  Mayor Michael Bloomberg, on February 4th, was the guest speaker at the annual “New Yorker for New York Awards” Gala that was held in the Grand Ballroom at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, in New York City. Mayor Michael Bloomberg addressed the six honorees that were honored for “their outstanding contributions to New York City’s cultural and philanthropic contributions, and their spirit of community service” according to the Citizens Committee for New York City. The six honorees who have contributed to improving life in the city were: Peter Gelb, Amanda M.Burden, Karen Cohen, Jack O’Kelley III, Bill Cunningham, and Karen Washington.
   The annual Gala had a turnout of over 600 guests and helped to raised 1.3 million dollars for the Citizens Committee for New York City.
