       The American Ballet Theatre will be celebrating its 70th Anniversary Season with an Opening Night Gala on Monday, May 17, at the Metropolitan Opera House.  The special anniversary event starts at 6:30 pm with Mrs. Michelle Obama serving as Honorary Chairman, along with Caroline Kennedy and Blaine Trump. This year’s Spring Gala will honor David H. Koch for 25 years of service to ABT and its Board of Governing Trustees. 

       A special 70th Anniversary highlight program will feature American Ballet Theatre’s Principal Dancers in excerpts from Sir Frederick Ashton’s Birthday Offering, Swan Lake and Twyla Tharp’s The Brahms-Haydn Variations. The performance will include the Company Premieres of Ashton’s Tha├»s Pas de Deux and Awakening Pas de Deux, as well as a pas de deux from John Neumeier’s Lady of the Camellias. The evening will also feature the Spring Gala debut of ABT II, in the first movement of Edwaard Liang’s Ballo Per Sei. Set to music by Antonio Vivaldi, Ballo Per Sei was given its World Premiere at The Joyce Theater on April 13, 2010.

       The anniversary event will conclude with a Gala dinner under the Tent at Lincoln Center following the performance. Gala benefit tickets are priced at $1,500, $2,000 and $2,500 and include the performance and post-performance dinner.        New York is known for its many talk and entertainment shows.  Below is a list of some of the many shows that you can request free tickets too.  Most of the shows limit the attendees to be 16 or 18 years and older.  If you want to get in, arrive early and bring a valid, government-issued ID with proof of age and address.  Most ticket holders do not guarantee entry since the shows tend to overbook the audience.  Standby tickets are available for most of the shows if you arrive early enough, come during bad weather and are willing to wait around.

    • Late Show with David Letterman
        Ed Sullivan Theater
                      1697–1699 Broadway (between West 53rd and West 54th Streets)
      Tapes:  Weekdays, twice on Mondays (4:30 pm and 7:00 pm), Tuesdays/Wednesdays at 5:30 pm, Thursdays at 4:30pm   
      Tips:  Arrive 1 hour prior to taping time, request tickets once every 6 months, a trivia question about the show must be answered correctly in order to receive two tickets. Must be 18 years of age or older.

    • The View
      Location:  320 West 66th Street
      Tapes:  LIVE Monday thru Thursday from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon
      Tips:  Must arrive at 9:30 a.m. SHARP.  They operate on a first come, first served basis.  Must be a registered ABC.com user to request tickets.  Cameras are allowed at designated times.  Tickets are mailed out 3 weeks prior to show date.   There is an approximate 12 – 24 month waiting list for tickets.  Apply only once or your request is cancelled.  Limit of four tickets per request.  Must be 16 years of age or older.

    • The Today Show
      Location:  The Today Show Studios

      Tapes:   Monday thru Friday from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m. 
      Tips:  Known for it’s outdoor plaza, fans and tourists gather as early as 5:00 am to be a part of the show even though there is no studio audience.  Arrive early to be a part of the four hour taping.

    • Live with Regis and Kelly

      Tapes:   live Monday thru Friday from 9:00 to 10:00 am
      Tips:  Tickets may be requested online or by mail with three dates you would like to attend.  Submit your request six to eight weeks in advance. Requests can take up to 12 months to fulfill.  Be prepared to pass through security and metal detectors.

    • Good Morning America

      Tapes:  Monday thru Friday from 7:00 am until 10:00 am
      Tips:  Request tickets online.  The audience stands with an exception for disabled guests.  Cameras are allowed.  No bags larger than a basic purse.  Fans and tourists are also welcomed to be a part of the outdoor background to fill the large studio windows.

    • The Rachael Ray Show

      Tapes:  Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at noon and 4:00 pm
      Tips:  Request up to three tickets.  Must be 16 years of age or older.  Dress code is business casual, no exceptions.  Tickets are emailed out two weeks prior to the show date.  First come, first serve basis for ticket holders.

      Tips:  There is no studio audience but fans and tourist are invited to join the show outside on the plaza for special segments taped every morning Monday through Saturday.  There is no age requirement.

      Tips:  Ticket requests are filled in a lottery basis and are only accepted during the month of August.  Must be 16 years or older.  Tickets requests may be emailed to: snltickets@nbcuni.com and are only accepted during the month of August. Include your name, address, and telephone number.  Do not request a specific date.  You may only send one email per household.  If you are selected, you will receive two tickets to a random show date and time.
