New York’s iconic Saks Fifth Avenue display windows are inspired for the next week by the 125th Anniversary of the famed Metropolitan Opera House. The flagship store will showcase 125 years of Metropolitan Opera costumes combined with upcoming new Spring accessories. The limited time window display is the first of the Spring season and the third collaboration between Saks Fifth Avenue and the Metropolitan Opera House. The historic Metropolitan Opera costumes will fill five of the window showcases. The stunning collection features costumes worn by the legendary artists of the Met including Enrico Caruso, Ezio Pinza, Anna Moffo, Lucia Popp, Regina Resnik, Leontyne Price, Placido Domingo, Renee Fleming, and Luciano Pavarotti.
The previous collaborations between the Met Opera and Saks included windows inspired by Anthony Minghella’s production of Madama Butterfly and the new productions of Hansel and Gretel, Peter Grimes, and Satyagraha during the 2007–2008 season.
